What surprised me most is that we’re both working on the same module, but almost opposite problems.
Tom used to run until he was wiped out. He’d push hard enough that the next couple of days became recovery days. Lately he’s been learning to back off a little, add strength training, and leave enough in the tank that movement doesn’t cost him the rest of his week.
I’ve been working on almost the opposite problem.
Once I get focused on a project, I don’t stop very well. Between work and the retaining wall, I kept telling myself, “One more evening. One more weekend. One more push.”
Before I knew it, my workouts had become inconsistent, my eating wasn’t as good as it usually is, and by Monday and Tuesday all I had enough energy to do after work was go to bed.
We’re both learning the same lesson. His starts with doing a little less. Mine starts with stopping a little sooner.
Then Module 3 showed up.
This past weekend we had dinner with friends, brunch with family, and took Sam to play mini golf. None of it was a big adventure. It was just time together. Looking back, I realized that’s exactly what Module 3 is trying to make room for.
So yes, we’re behind.
We’re working through two modules at once.
Funny enough, I don’t think we’d have seen how well they fit together if everything had gone according to plan.
