April 2025 Edition
Some months I fly through books, other months I listen to a few while commuting and slowly chip away at the rest. Either way, I’m always looking for something that makes me feel more alive — more grounded, more inspired, more me.
This month’s list is a mix of mindset shifts, health deep dives, creative pick-me-ups, and a few that just made me rethink how I want to live. I thought you might love them too.

Here’s what’s been on my reading and listening list lately:
1. The Comfort Crisis by Michael Easter

This one got me out of my head and back into the real world. It’s all about how we’ve made our lives too comfortable — and how that comfort might be what’s making us restless, stuck, or disconnected. Some of the stories are wild, but it’s packed with practical takeaways too. I finished it wanting to get outside, do something hard, and shake up my routine — and that’s exactly what I needed.
2. Keep Going by Austin Kleon

This book is like a creative pep talk I didn’t know I needed. It’s short and simple, and I ended up reading a few pages each morning with coffee. It reminded me that showing up — even when you’re tired, even when things feel flat — is what matters most. Whether you’re in a creative rut or just want a little momentum, this one’s a great companion.
3. Outlive by Peter Attia

I took a lot of notes during this one. It’s full of science-backed information about living longer and living better — but it’s also really readable. It made me rethink how I train, what I eat, and what I want my health to look like 10 or 20 years from now. Not overwhelming, just eye-opening. If you’re serious about longevity, this is a great deep dive.
4. The Power of Fun by Catherine Price

At first I thought, “Do I really need a book about fun?” Turns out, I did. This book helped me realize how much of my “downtime” wasn’t actually fun — it was just numbing out. Catherine Price makes a strong case for why joy, play, and real connection matter more than ever. It’s uplifting, eye-opening, and a good reminder to make space for fun that actually fills you up.
5. Atomic Habits by James Clear

There’s a reason this book is everywhere — because it works. Some of it might seem obvious while you’re reading, but then you realize… you’re not actually doing it. That was me. It helped me stop overcomplicating things and actually build habits that stick. I loved how he breaks down change into tiny, realistic steps that don’t feel overwhelming. It’s definitely one to reread now and then, especially when you need a reset or check-in. Whether you’re trying to get healthier, get organized, or just make a small shift, this one makes it doable.
6. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck by Mark Manson

I love Mark Manson — I listen to his podcast all the time, and he never fails to make me laugh and think. He’s blunt, sarcastic, and yeah, the language is strong — but if you can get past that, this book is fantastic. It helped me stop wasting energy on stuff that doesn’t matter and get clear on what actually does. It’s a no-fluff, real-talk kind of book that hits home. I highlighted a ton, and it’s one I’ll probably go back to when I need a reset or a little shake-up.
7. The Book of Awakening by Mark Nepo

This is one of those books I read slowly — one page at a time. It’s beautiful and poetic, but also real. It touches on grief, change, healing, and just being human. I kept it by my bedside and reached for it on the days I felt unsettled or in transition. It doesn’t offer quick fixes — just honest reflections that make you feel a little more grounded.
8. Vagabonding by Rolf Potts

This book lit up the part of me that craves freedom and adventure. It’s not about luxury travel — it’s about the mindset of exploring slowly and intentionally. It reminded me that adventure doesn’t have to mean hopping on a plane — it can mean showing up differently in the life you already have. If you’re dreaming about travel or just want to live more freely, this one’s a good push.
9. The Nature Fix by Florence Williams

I’ve always felt better after spending time outside — and this book explains why. It blends research and story in a way that’s super readable and inspiring. It reminded me that nature isn’t just a nice escape — it’s essential. If you’ve been spending too much time indoors or behind a screen, this is a great reminder to get out and reconnect.
10. From Strength to Strength by Arthur C. Brooks

I really love Arthur Brooks — everything he shares is positive, thoughtful, and grounded in a deep mission to help people live better, more meaningful lives. This book felt like a quiet conversation with someone who gets it. It’s about stepping into the next chapter of life with purpose instead of clinging to what used to define you. It helped me rethink how I want to spend my time and energy going forward — and reminded me that success doesn’t have to look the same in every season. Full of wisdom and perspective I know I’ll come back to.
