About

We’re not writing from the other side of a transformation.
We’re in the middle of one.

Handcrafted Adventure is for people who want more than fine — more intention, more aliveness, more of a feeling that the best parts of life aren’t already behind them. This is where we figure it out. Week by week, out loud.

Who we are

We’re Krista and Tom — 58 and 60 — actively building something that feels like it counts. Not planning to start living. Not waiting for the kids to be older or the schedule to clear. Doing it now, with the week we actually have.

This started in 2020, the year Tom had both hips replaced. While he healed, we walked every day. Short ones at first. Then longer. Those walks became the best part of the day — not because of the distance, but because of the conversations. About what we wanted the next chapter to actually look like. About the things we’d kept saying “someday” to. About whether we were drifting, and whether drifting was a choice.

In 2021, Krista went back to school at 54. Not because she had a clean plan — because something was pulling and she decided to follow it. She graduated in 2024 as a radiologic technologist and started a completely new career in healthcare at 57. We moved in 2025. We’re still figuring out what this chapter looks like, week by week.

That’s not a disclaimer. It’s the whole point. The most honest thing we can offer isn’t advice from the finish line. It’s notes from the road.

The next chapter doesn’t announce itself with a trumpet. You have to go looking for it — one small choice at a time.
Go use the life you have.

What this space is really about

Handcrafted Adventure is a record of living deliberately — not perfectly, and not in a rush. The trips we actually took and the ones we almost talked ourselves out of. The habits that held for three months straight and the ones that quietly fell apart in week two. The weeks that felt fully lived and the ones that passed without much to show, and what made the difference between them.

We write about adventure at every scale — a vacation to the Pacific Northwest, a Tuesday night out, a new hobby picked up at 57. We write about movement and health that works inside a real schedule, not an ideal one. And we write about what it actually looks like to stop drifting and start designing a life that feels like yours — without overhauling everything at once, without a complete personality transplant, and without waiting until the conditions are better.

This isn’t a constant-travel brand. It isn’t extreme-reinvention content. It’s about showing up to the life you already have — with more intention, more curiosity, and a little more excitement about what’s still ahead.

Coming September 2026

Everything we’ve learned — from the drift, the return, the habits that held and the ones that didn’t — is becoming the Fully Lived Framework: a 90-day guided program with three modules, video lessons, and live Zoom check-ins, built for people who are ready to stop drifting and start designing what comes next. What you’ll find here

  • Everyday adventure Small trips, local discoveries, and the kinds of experiences — big and quiet — that make an ordinary week feel like it counted. A candlelit dinner at home. A movie night in the backyard by the fire pit. A Saturday drive to somewhere you’ve passed a hundred times. Adventure isn’t always a plane ticket. Sometimes it’s a Tuesday.
  • Movement and health for real life Walking, strength, sleep, and habits built for actual schedules — not the version of your life where you have three free hours every morning and nothing goes sideways. What works when you’re tired, busy, or recovering from a week that got away from you.
  • Mindset, direction, and the return What to do when you’ve drifted from the life you meant to be living — and how to find your way back without starting over from scratch. The drift is not a failure. It’s just what happens when life fills itself in without your input. The return is always available.

This is a place you can come back to.

Life drifts. That’s not a character flaw — it’s just how it goes. The kids grow up. The career shifts. The things you kept saying “someday” to are suddenly right in front of you, and nobody prepared you for how that would feel, or how to start.

Handcrafted Adventure is here for the return. When you’re ready to feel genuinely excited again. To move with intention again. To close a week and actually feel like it counted — not because you did everything right, but because you showed up to it on purpose.

Tom had both hips replaced at 54. Krista went back to school at 54 and started a new career at 57. If we’ve learned anything in the years since those walks started, it’s this: the window doesn’t close. It just gets more honest about what you actually want to walk through it for.

If any of that sounds familiar, you’re in the right place.

Go use the life you have.
